Al estilo de los juegos de rol de fantasía, The Good Patriot imagina un universo paralelo (worldbuilding) con el objetivo de explorar diversas problemáticas propias del sistema capitalista y sus consecuencias a largo plazo. Se utiliza el diseño de futuros para crear un mundo ficticio muy afín al capitalismo tardío y sus características: desde el mapa donde se configura la acción hasta los personajes, pasando por las indumentarias, las banderas o la cultura. El proyecto imita el ejemplo de un módulo (scenario) de juego de rol: narra una breve aventura dentro de un mundo de campaña más grande, en formato libro. Dentro del ejercicio teórico para comprender y configurar correctamente el mundo ficticio de The Good Patriot, se exploran conceptos como el realismo capitalista (M. Fisher) o la cosificación y la conciencia del proletariado (G. Lukács). El objetivo es ilustrar una serie de preocupaciones y reflexiones sobre el mundo y el sistema en tiempos inciertos, como los actuales; y hacerlo a través de una práctica diferente como es el worldbuilding, que también supone una herramienta de reflexión y de desarrollo tanto artístico como intelectual.
In the style of fantasy role-playing games, The Good Patriot imagines a parallel universe (worldbuilding) with the aim of exploring various issues inherent to the capitalist system and their long-term consequences. Future design is used to create a fictional world closely aligned with late capitalism and its traits: from the map where the action takes place to the characters, including costumes, flags, and cultures. The project mimics the example of a role-playing game scenario module: it tells a brief adventure within a larger campaign world, in book format. As part of the theoretical exercise to properly understand and configure the fictional world of The Good Patriot, concepts such as capitalist realism (M. Fisher) and the reification and consciousness of the proletariat (G. Lukács) are explored. The goal is to illustrate a series of concerns and reflections about the world and the system in uncertain times, such as the present; and to do so through a different practice, worldbuilding, which also serves as a tool for reflection and development both artistically and intellectually.
